Conference Code of Conduct

The Planning Committee for the River Restoration 2018 Conference in Two Harbors, Minnesota is dedicated to cultivating a respectful and welcoming environment for all participants. We have the responsibility to create an inclusive environment for collaboration, shared learning and open discussions. All participants are expected to act with integrity and support a culture of respect. Harassment or discrimination of any form will not be tolerated at the conference.

River Restoration 2018 attendees, speakers, facilitators, and sponsors agree to:
  • Respect others around you by being mindful of your speech and actions. Be kind and considerate to ensure all participants feel welcomed.
  • Be a role model.  Refrain from displaying any demeaning, discriminating, harassing, or intimidating materials or behaviors.
  • Respect personal space and adhere to common courtesy rules for personal interaction.
  • Behave in a professional manner.
  • Not damage property and obey the rules and regulations of the venue.
  • Alert a member of the Planning Committee (listed below) if you witness a threatening, serious or uncomfortable situation, someone in distress, or inappropriate conduct, even if it may seem inconsequential, so appropriate action(s) can be taken.
Creating a supportive environment to foster scientific discussions and shared learning is a priority for the Planning Committee and a responsibility of all participants. We expect all attendees to be mindful of others to ensure a great experience for everyone. Keep in mind that even a joke or innuendo can be unsuitable at a professional conference and can make others feel uncomfortable and possibly harassed. Please notify the Planning Committee as soon as possible if you witness, or are subjected to inappropriate behavior, or have any other concerns. It’s up to all of us to contribute to a safe, respectful conference culture. We appreciate your leadership and commitment to the River Restoration 2018 conference – thank you.
